Astraea is a PhD student in the Sea Around Us – Indian Ocean, hailing from Australia and Germany. She completed a Bachelor of Marine Science and a Master of Marine Biology at the University of Western Australia in 2023 and 2025 respectively. Her current research focuses on pelagic fisheries in the high seas in combination with the new Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement and through the lens of ocean accounting. Driven by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, Astraea joined the Sea Around Us – Indian Ocean in March 2026 to begin her new journey.
