World’s leading aquatic scientific societies urgently call for cuts to global greenhouse gas emissions

In an unprecedented World Climate Statement released this week (19 September 2020), over 110 aquatic scientific societies representing more than 80,000 scientists across the world are sounding a climate change alarm.

The societies call for drastically curtailed global greenhouse gas emissions to avoid the worst impacts of man-made climate change to fish and aquatic ecosystems. Unless urgent action is taken to reduce emissions, scientists predict catastrophic impacts to commercial, recreational, and subsistence fisheries and human health and global economies.

The Sea Around Us strongly supports the call made in this statement. This is an important statement about the urgent need to tackle climate change, and we thank you for supporting it.

Kind Regards
