Tansy Perera
Research Assistant
Sea Around Us - Indian Ocean
School of Biological Sciences
University of Western Australia (UWA)
Growing up by the beach right here in Western Australia, Tansy spent her childhood exploring reefs and rocky shores with her environmental-scientist aunty, developing an early interest in marine animals, coastal patterns, and plant life. This passion led her to study marine science throughout high school and complete a Bachelor of Science at UWA, majoring in Marine Biology and Zoology. Since then, Tansy has contributed to a range of marine and freshwater research projects, supporting both fieldwork, including sampling and fish tagging, and laboratory-based analysis. She now works with the Sea Around Us – Indian Ocean, where she focuses on updating fisheries catch reconstructions for East African countries.
